If I have a question about etiquette, what resource would be most helpful?

The Wedding Blue Book by Crane and Co. is a traditional, yet modern, guide to reference when questions arise about wedding correspondence and etiquette. Typically most questions revolve around addressing outer and inner envelopes. The following examples should help answer those questions.

1. Example of the outer envelope if the couple is married and has the same last name:

Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Reynolds

Example of inner envelope:

Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds

*children’s names listed from oldest to youngest if included*

2. Example of the outer envelope if the couple is married and the woman kept her maiden name:

Ms. Claudia Smith

and Mr. William Reynolds

Example of the inner envelope:

Ms. Smith

and Mr. Reynolds

3. Example of outer envelope if the woman is a Doctor:

Mr. and Mrs. William Reynolds

OR

Doctor Claudia Reynolds and Mr. William Reynolds

Example of the inner envelope:

Doctor Reynolds and Mr. Reynolds

OR

Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds

4. Example of the outer envelope if the couple is unmarried and living together:

Miss Claudia Smith

Mr. William Reynolds

OR

Ms. Claudia Smith

Mr. William Reynolds

Example of the inner envelope:

Miss Smith

Mr. Reynolds

OR

Ms. Smith

Mr. Reynolds

When should I plan to mail my wedding invitations?

Wedding invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding. If Save the Date cards are being used, then it is ok to send your invitations 4 weeks prior to the wedding.

How should I send you my address list?

I would prefer the address list be typed and sent as a Word document. The addresses should be aligned to the left and typed as they would appear on the envelopes. Make sure to completely spell all words and include everything you would like to see in calligraphy on your envelope. Please do not number the addresses. Also, make sure to proofread your list to ensure the correct spelling of names and addresses. I will gladly correct any mistake I make free of charge, but if I have already written an address that needs revision by you, you will be charged for the extra envelope.

Do I need to order extra envelopes?

Yes. A good rule of thumb is to order 10-15 extra envelopes per 100 for any additions or mistakes.

How long will it take to complete my order?

Please allow approximately 2 weeks per 100 envelopes.

How do I schedule my project?

Please contact me via email or phone to schedule your project. I will then send you a contract to complete, sign and return to me before the project begins. A non-refundable deposit of ½ of the amount due is required at the time I receive your envelopes or other materials. The final balance is due when I deliver the finished project to you.
